Purchased a replacement alt after the bearings were failing on the original after 240K mi. Problem was the bolt holding it in was rusted so badly I had to cut it off with a sawzall. After being into this job under the car for several hours, upon completion the battery light was glowing on the dash. Alt was working, researched online determiend a diode was bad in the remanufactured alternator. So I had to purchase another new one and replace it the next night, whcih solved the problem. Alt's came with paperwork stating they are tested better than the average, etc... I hate RE-WORK and dont feel the first one was pre tested.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 70 Amps:

Great replacement for OEM 2000 civic lx. Plug and play with no issues. FYI it's best to remove alt from the bracket and then remove the bracket with 2 14mm bolts out the bottom. Pull and pivot alt out the bottom, definitely easier than trying to get it out the top of the engine. Other than that it's a great buy

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 70 Amps:

I was pleasantly surprized when I opened the box at the store to inspect and verify it was the correct alternator. Although I usually dont read the documentation that comes in the box, this time Soething caught my eye. Printef pages with known issues that pplied to my specific vehicle that could have caused me to blame. Specifically a known issue with the wiring harness feeding the alternator, UNDER the intake manifold. It turns out that was not the problem with my car, but now know to watch out for this in the future.

While difficult to install, the old unit was equally a bear to remove, but we got it. Fit up was equal to original. No complaints.

This alternator placement is crazy. Manual say's to remove the driver side axle to take the alternator out. It can come out the top but you need to release the master cylinder & a couple clamps & it's still a tight fit. The worst part is getting it seated in the bottom mount. [*] near have to tap it into place.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 70 Amps:

I ordered alternator on line to be picked up at the store. I installed the altenator and it made a screeching noise and caused the battery light to flicker. It was defective.
I brought the alternator back to get another one. They had to order it for the next day. I asked if I could purchase a brand new one but they could not order one even though they had a listing.
When I picked up the replacement alternator the next day, they couldn't just give give me the new one and take the bad one. Because it was ordered online, they had to credit the alternator and then charge me again for the replacement one. Then he had to figure out how to not charge me for the core again because I had already given it to them when I purchased the first one.
