Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 60 Amps:

This is the 3rd Alternator in about 3 years. It's a shame that one can't last for even a few years. Unfortunately don't expect it to last. More than likely it will fail at the worst possible time. If I or someone reading this could get to a good rebuilder that would be the way to go. The parts used for the rebuild are of a very poor quality. That's assuming they are even new? I only recommend this if you can install it yourself and don't mind having to install another again and again. Hope this unit can last a little longer. Maybe the domestic alternators last longer than these Hondas?

            • Q:

Have a 1991 Honda Civic 2wd wagon, 1.5l,automatic ...After replacing the old alternator with this one last Nov. 2010 I recently noticed when searching for a whining noise that the alternators belt is now cutting into the timing belt cover ... at least a 4th of the belt has cut into the cover ... I had to really fight to get this alternator in because the lower brace which holds the alt. seemed a hair "smaller" ... alt. didn't go in as easy as come out. What could be the problem? This is the recommended alt. from Advance, but Could this alt. be the wrong one

                A:

With out the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.
