You'll want to rent the serpintine belt removal tool too! Best way to install. Remove right front wheel, remove 3 plastic clips for splash shield, use slim rented belt tool to remove belt, uptop, on the Town & Country remove the EGR hard line fromt he upper intake and the EGR Valve, swing EGR out of way and unclip the pain in the butt Chrysler connection to alternator by sliding the red clip forward (to rad) and depress tab to pull off. Note: This clip is a pain in the butt, do not force it...took me 10 minutes, study the EGR clip, it works the same. Remove battery Neg cable and undo the two 15mm top access bolts for the alt and the one under side access (just above AC pulley from wheel well). Alt slides right out. While your at it and if funds allow, excellent time to replace the belt and idler, tensioners usually last a lot longer. Safe bet as I'd had one fail on anothe vehicle. Super easy and be sure to route the belt as required, double check grooves. Took an hour start to finish. Original problem, clutch/pulley on original alt bearing went bad (75k). Google for Promo codes as I got fifty dollars off total bill with alt, new belt and idler...was like getting belt and idler free. Pick up in store.

I purchased this alternator on line. At the time, Advance was running one of their promotional "on_line" discounts and I saved 15% off the normal prices as a result. [...]Sad to say, the alternator was defective in that the bearings were noisey as engine idle rpms. [...]The replacement for the defective part works like a champ and I am pleased with the product [...]Thanks, Advance Auto Parts. You are just like a good neighbor to me.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 160 Amps:

Replaced original alternator at 128k miles on my T&C with this one. Not all that difficult to replace ... but borrowing the belt tensioner tool is a plus. (the 2nd time, I just used a pipe wrench) Alternator lasted 3 yrs/50k miles before starting to fail (engine light on/OBD codes reading low voltage/ + the usual alternator failing signs). Love the lifetime warranty - no fuss/no problem. Advised my 16 yr old son what to do... he had it out in 1/2 hr (spent more time looking for the right sockets than actually working). 3 mounting bolts (15MM). 160 amps - the highest. Sure, it's re-manuf. - but the lifetime warranty did it for me. Didn't want to spend the additional for a NEW or Bosch unit.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 160 Amps:

Perfect fit after a fashion. You need to remove the fender well shield to access the belt tensioner and alternator bolts, then remove the EGR valve and pipe to make room to remove the alternator. Retighten the EGR bolts before rebolting the alternator. Not a bad job other than the tight fit.

Was very straightforward to install. Took about an hour. Noticed improvement in battery charging. It's important to have a functioning alternator in the SXT as there are so many electrically operated doors.

                      Very cost effective.

can you use two of these alternators together and wire the output of one in series with the other and get 320 amps out @ 12vdc and then run to an dc to ac invertor. If so what is the speed/rpm that the alternators have to run at the maitain the consistant output and stay steady?

Sorry, I would not be able to tell you how to wire them up if you are trying to get more than the 160 amp output. In theory you might be able to get your desired amp output by using a special regulator. Most vehicles idle around 700 RPM, so I assume that would be optimal for a steady output.

Trouble-shooting may find that the charging voltage rate is too high (15.2 volts or higher). This may be a false condition which may result in the arbitrary replacment of alternators, related sensors, and/or the SBECIII (PCM) computer.

Scan Tool diagnostic checks must be performed. If the results of all checks prove that the systems are working as designed, then it is very likely that the PCM needs to be reprogrammed by an authorized service technician.
