Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 136 Amps:

Used it on our everyday driver. Really liking the lifetime warranty. Have a store really close so pickup was a breeze. The core deposit was returned very quick , I brought the core in when I picked up the new part. I ordered and paid for the part online and it was waiting for me when I arrived.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 136 Amps:

The nut on the back, was pressed in a little too far, which was making installing tricky. After a quick tap with the hammer to push the nut back out some, it went on like a glove. As you tighten down the bolt it drew the nut back in. Real simple once I figured it out.

    • Q:

Hi. The response to my question about the warrant on this product said, ""The ToughOne Alternator - Remanufactured - 136 Amps (Part No. 12105) comes with limited lifetime replacement warranty. This warranty is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase or any longer warranty period that may be printed on your original sales receipt.." So is it a "limited lifetime" warranty or a 90 day warranty?

      Thanks.

    • Q:

How do I relieve the belt tension on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6cl 4.0 in order to change the alternator?
      Asked on 3/25/2010 by Bandit9 from Oaklyn,NJ

      • A:

The tensioner is below the alternator, and looks like a unit containing 2 pulleys. In the center of that unit, there is a square hole which allows a 1/2" drive ratchet or breaker bar to be inserted. Rotating the tensioner unit clockwise will relieve tension on the belt and allow for removal of the alternator. Also, while there are only 2 bolts to remove the alternator, the bottom bolt threads into a plug in the back of the alternator. You may need to wrench on that plug (17mm i believe) in order to free the alternator from the mount.

        A:

You can relieve tension by simply moving the belt tensioner.
