I bought this alternator on the web from the website and clicked pick up in store. I found a 40.00 off promo code and applied it. The product was waiting for me at my local store and was a much better looking rebuild than I thought I would get. It performs well and has given me no problems at all. I would reccommend.

My alternator went while I was traveling to visit a family member that lives 1 1/2 hours away. I had to turn around and drive home with no heat and I was very nervous the car wouldn't make it home. It made it barely. We got the part, husband put it in and it seemed to run fine that night. So the next morning I tried again and drove the 1 1/2 hours to visit a family member. This time I made it there but when I went to leave my battery light went on again. I had to drive in the dusk/dark for the first hour with only my parking lights on (very scary) then when it was really dark I had to put my headlights on, which drained the battery more, so I turned off the dash lights and drove without knowing my speed. I couldn't run the heat and it was very cold ride home. I made it home and the next morning my husband had to take that bad part out and go get ANOTHER one. But before he took the next one from your cashier, he had him test it...guess what THAT ONE was bad as well. There needs to be a rule put in place that before you sell ANY refurbished part like that it should be tested before the customer leaves the store. The cashier ended giving us a brand new one because he had no good refurbished ones, but instead of charging us for the new part he made a deal with my husband to just not give us back our "return part charge"amount ($27). He was kind enough to give us a break. However the whole ordeal on the second day would not of happened if the part was properly tested in the first place BEFORE it was sold to us. This was an EXTREMELY stressful experience for me.

Installed the first one and with in 1 hour was stranded on the side of the road with a new alternator that died and a drained battery. Called the store to see if they had an other one, which they did. Had to call a friend to come get me take me to the store then back out to my dead vehicle, not a good day.

Works great with no issues so far. As the instructions note, make sure battery is fully charged. Remans are awfully expensive these days, but Advance had the best price and a lifetime warranty.

Installed alternator and it was super hot after running a few minutes. Took it back for a refund and took original alternator to a local alternator shop to repair. Ended up costing a fraction of what the new alternator did. It's been 2 years and still no problems with it.

8519A is not replacement piece for 2004 Ford Explorer 6 cyl

        By

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 130 Amps:

This is not the correct piece. Too deep. Cannot get it to screw on. if you search for the alternator options, this one comes up as the most economical but if you reconfirm the ref # 8519a and compare to your vehicle, it says it does not fit. Very unhappy, specially after reading some of the "catch on fire" reviews.

Poor Quality would NEVER recommend this.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 130 Amps:

I had issues with CARQUEST parts before that were re-manufactured. This one however was by far the worst. Like one of the guys above, their lack of attention to detail could have caught my car on fire and possibly worse had it gone unnoticed. The stud on my refurbished alternator completely burned off. It ruined all the wiring attached to this piece as well. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 130 Amps:

The poor quality parts used in this alternator almost caught my truck on fire. After installing this unit several months ago, I happened to be under the hood adding windshield fluid when I saw the output stud glowing bright red. The output stud 90° standoff had the plastic melted off it and could have caught the vehicle on fire if not noticed. Then the Advance store where purchased would not warranty poor Quality and POOR customer service, I do not recommend.
