Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

I replaced the idler and accessory pulleys but passed on the alternator late last year. Replaced the drive belt too. It sounded like crickets were under the hood, and the interior lights were like votive candle lights. I jumped on this 120 amp alternator and wow, what a difference! It was a bit challenging to install, Thank you very much Chrysler, but it fits and works. This unit replaced a Denso that didn't seem to be as high quality that you might think if you have experience with Denso. This unit is "beefier" than the Denso and well constructed. 200K miles on my '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager and it runs great. That's why I buy my parts from Advance Auto. Prices are good, availability is "usually" good and I like the counter guys at my local store. If you think you need an alternator and your car has high miles, go with this one, you'll be glad you did!

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

Alternator looked and felt to be built well. Only time will tell how durable it it, but As I put it on my 1997 Crhysler Town & country, I expect it to outlive the vehicle. The instalation was very hard due to Chrysler engineers cramming things in with out regard to eventual replacement.

Have Advance check your battery. It's a free service. Rule out other charging problems. When ready replace the belt and bad pulleys also. You must have access to tension wrench. Good time to check the water pump. Hard to rotate pulley? Noisy?
Do a little research and have an extra pair of hands nearby. Take your time. Not that hard.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

Installing an Alternator on a Voyager ('97 3.3L) is an involved process. To get it out you must remove the Windshield washers, intake manifold, various hoses, & the serpentine belt. Since you now have access to the top of the engine it is a wise idea to change out everything you can reach. Injector O-Rings, Valve cover gaskets, O2 sensor, Spark Plugs and wires. Intake manifold gasket, & the Serpentine Belt. All of this stuff together is not expensive and you will thank yourself and put many more miles on your Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth Van. The con -difficult to install - is not the fault of the product, it is the process itself.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

When my alternator started to die, I decided to spend the extra money to get the more powerful model for my car. I spent an hour pulling out the old one and started installing the new. About 15 mins into the install, I tried to plug in the wire socket in the back and it wouldn't go in. The sheet-metal end-cap had been badly machined and it was not large enough to allow for the wire plug. I had to remove the alternator, remove the end cap, and file the edges of the opening back until it was the right size. After that, installation was straightforward, and the car now performs better than it ever has. I would have given the product 5 stars if that end-cap hadn't been badly finished.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

Battery light would frequently come "on" after initial engine start of Dodge/Grand caravan and stay lit. Old alternator tested okay & so did battery. Replaced alternator ,anyway, after second removal. This included wiper & mount removal in order to get to the alternator. Battery light stays "off" after initial start of vehicle since replacement of alternator 12 days ago.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 120 Amps:

Was not easy to replace, however this is due to Dodge's design not the alternator. Had to remove support bracket and plate to get enough space to take it out from the top side. three sctews in the top bracket three in the plate into the block and one more at the tensioner. Tensionet has to be removerd from the under side, not easy to see, and do. Need two entensions and a universal joint. Once in ran great, soomth and quiet.
