Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 102 Amps:

Ordered online and picked up in store with an amazing coupon code. The store I went to was having a classic car show in their parking lot, as well as a live DJ right outside the front door. Went inside, signed a piece of paper, got a great explanation of my product, and a free hot dog on the way out to my car.

Item looked identical to original alternator except for new yellow wire installation that could be visibly seen inside the rib cage of the unit. Unit I received also had small crack that ran along the boundary of the case of the alternator but it did not affect performance or installation.

This install is very easy on a 3800 Series 2 motor. Just remove the belt, slide the coolant tank out of the way, remove bolts/electrical connectors, and repeat. Perfect fit and price for an 01 Buick Regal with 170,000 miles, cant beat a lifetime warranty either.

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 102 Amps:

    Fit Buick Century 2001 perfectly.
To loosen the tensioner on this model, there is a square hole on the tensioner arm for a 1/4-inch ratchet to give you extra leverage. The Haynes manual doesn't mention that, sadly. Once the belt is off, the install is very straight-forward.

What are some indicators that my alternator is bad? HOw would I be able to know if it is the alternator and NOT the starter? Thanks

          A:

Some signs that the alternator is bad may include are that your vehicle may not start. It may start but then die after a few minutes. Your battery may be dead because the alternator is not charging it up. You also may have a battery light come on in your instument cluster.
