            Gidday thanks for the response. I believe my motor came from a 1991 camaro. I assume the wires on the alternator plug are for ignition warning light and ignition power? Don't want to hook up incorrectly and do damage. Thank you. Darren

              A:

              Hi Darren, good question! You may use a different alternator for your vehicle but you may have to change out the main alternator wire for a heavier gauge wire. The most common reason to want to do this is the use of a very high power aftermarket stereo system or any other electrical appliance. Based on the electrical usage you may need to go for a heavier gauge wire. Connect the terminal key switch to ignition line for dashboard light. The second terminal should be connected to battery so as to regulate the power.
