Comments about CarGo Thermosteel Thermosteel Exhaust System Repair Kit:

This product was not what it advertised. The compound would not stick to the screen provided to apply to exhaust manifold. Sandpaper was provided but is poor quality, you would be better off using emery cloth. Actually you would be better off not wasting your money on this repair kit.

      okay for cracks only

Comments about CarGo Thermosteel Thermosteel Exhaust System Repair Kit:

This does not work to repair a loose flange. It holds until you put the car in gear. I gave it 2 warm days to set up to make sure it had time. Then, I simply idled the car for 30 minutes to set the joint. The car cooled down for 2 hours before starting back up. Put it into gear and the exhaust came loose immediately. I'll just use a split clamp and not have the mess again.

DO NOT buy this product. The goo is awful to spread and like a previous comment made, you have to sit there and hold it for hours or it just falls off.
I bought 2 of these--tried one like it said in the package; then tried another one by filling the mesh with the goo, wrapping it around the break, then adding tape to hold it in place while it cures. Both methods = fail.

i used this a year ago on my nisan frontier with a manifold crack in the y section and ground to bare metal and then put putty around and fill the crack than used the cloth around the break with a tin sheathing covering that and more putty and enclosed with a ss pipe clamp . this lasted a full 11 months and just started leaking again , so well do it again! GREAT STUFF , JUST HAVE TO PREP RIGHT AND WORK SLOW!

I'm happy to help, Emptymag! This CarGo Thermosteel Exhaust System Repair Kit may seal the gap for you. It will most likely be a temporary fix and the manifold will still need to be replaced in the end. When I have utilized these types of repairs in the past, I managed to get about 6 months to 1 year of driving out of the vehicle. My repair was after the catalytic converter and had a lot of vibration and movement. Your mileage may vary with this repair.

I have a crack between Muffler and Catalitic converter that is causing the pipe behind the Catalitic converter to bounce against the frame. There are no clamps in the area,so will this material seal the crack and once hardened be able to hold the exhaust up in the air to prevent this bouncing issue?

This could be due to less oxygen getting to your oxygen sensors. Without the presence of your vehicle, we could not provide the exact solution. It is advisable to contact a certified mechanic to identify the exact problem and then you can purchase the exact part from your local Advance Auto Parts store.
