    great part so far...leave hoses on til u have it out....see youtube "Rack and Pinion 2001 GMC Sierra 1500"......its 2 big bolts n 1 steering shaft bolt then the 2 tie rod ends....u will need 18mm crows foot line wrench for a 3/8" drive socket wrench...bought cheap off of internet....or cut a slot in an old 18mm preferably 6 point closed end wrench.

    since my front tires were wearing perfect, I used string pulled off rear tire at axle height to re-align front end, but carefully counting tie rod end revolutions while u take them off got me within tolerance it turned out....then it only took 1/4 turn to align toe in using string method which I believe is within tolerance to begin with...we will see how the part lasts....after I got it together the high pressure hose from pump to unit started leaking.....probly shoulda replaced it at 16 years old but it looked so good....going to be tougher to get it out now....

      I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT ext.cab. Is it normal for the rack to move on the frame mount bushing when the steering wheel is turned either left or right.

        I'm happy to help, Leeroy! There may be a slight amount of movement of the rack in the stock rubber bushings on your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. Excessive movement will result in excess play in the steering wheel. If you are noticing excess play in the steering wheel you may wish to replace the rack and pinion or the rack and pinion bushings.

        Happy to help you with your question Leeroy! Your Rack and pinion should be stationary and firmly secured to the frame. It should not move when turning not even in the bushings. If your vehicle is doing this, it is a safety hazard. Please have a look at the product application at the lower part of the product page, while it does say it is an exact fit for the 06 Silverado 1500 LT the page does mention different vehicle features such as wheel size, bed length, tow package etc. PLEASE read this before purchasing.
