After receiving a P0171 error code, which resulted in a Check Engine Light on my 2000 Lexus RX300, I cleaned the stock MAF sensor (which was original with 90,000 miles on it) but that did not fix the problem.

I removed the stock MAF sensor, replaced it with the Cardone Mass Air Flow Sensor, and cleared the trouble codes; now there are no more issues. The new sensor works great! No more check engine light and my gas mileage has returned to normal.

Since my local Advance Auto Parts had this item in stock, the whole removal/install process only took 5 minutes. Couldn't be happier!

... Then Forget It
I picked up this Cardone MAF sensor and noticed it was an aftermarket rebuild. It did not have a snug O-ring fit which may have been the cause of intermittent "cut-outs", where it felt like everything went dead for a split second while driving. I returned the No-Name rebuild and made sure the next one was a rebuilt Toyota part. I'm satisfied thus far (2 weeks) with this Toyota /Cardone Rebuilt MAF Sensor.

Replacement was easy. Two screws, and disconnect the sensor plug. Part came with a new o-ring seal which is good idea. Had two trouble codes indicating MAF sensor problem & car would not start. Put this rebuilt part in with the new o-ring, snugged up the screws(in plastic)and reconnected the sensor plug. The car started and has been running for a couple of weeks and no trouble codes.

Comments about Cardone Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) - Remanufactured:

I needed to replace the MAF sensor. I didn't want to pay full price, but then again I was a little worried of purchasing an aftermarket sensor since I have read they don't last that long, and at the end you will need to purchase an OEM sensor. Then I read that this part was an original TOYOTA remanufactured part, so I gave it a shot. The part even says TOYOTA (sensor housing is original) and it works great for just the half of the price. You should concider saving some money, at the same time you mantain your original parts.

I took it back to the dealer and told them that i was getting this fault again. they took it back in and got the same code They dug in and found that there was a broken wire. prob had 2 good O2sensors go to the trash. After a day and a half finding the problem and replaceing the wire the charge will only be 318.00.

                      Thanks for the response
