Comments about Cardone Engine Control Computer - Import:

After doing a lot of troubleshooting (excluding issues with distributor stuff, fuel pump, relays, etc. etc.), I concluded (correctly) that my ECU had finally died. I decided to buy the refurbished one here due to the price.

I installed the new ECU, and for a couple days, everything worked correctly. Then one day I couldn't start it. However, after a short time, I heard the Main/Fuel relay activate and the fuel line pressurize. Problem solved. Until the next time. From that time on, every time I tried to start the car, I would need to turn the key to the ON position (not START) and wait some random amount of time before the fuel pump would activate. Sometimes it was immediate, and sometimes I would have to wait 5 minutes. Note that I never died on the road: once it started, there was no issue.

After doing some more troubleshooting (including some undeserved suspicion to my MAP sensor), I decided to ask AAP for an exchange, which they agreed to.

Since then, I have never had any problems whatsoever. So ultimately, I'm happy, but there was a lot of worrying and angst while I didn't know what the problem was.
