Comments about Cardone Distributor {Electronic} w/o Module - Domestic Reman:

I happened to buy the exact type of distributer that matched the one removed from auto. The only thing I thought was not perfect, was the base was a little tight when I installed it into the block of engine. A little wiggle and it dropped on down and in place.

Comments about Cardone Distributor {Electronic} w/o Module - Domestic Reman:

I was replacing my 94 JGC Distrib with this Refurb. My distributor had the whining bushing sound. After installing the Cardone Distrib. The car would idle but would stall when you gave it gas. I suspect the distrib cam sensor was not working correctly.

After working on the car for 16hrs beta testing. I gave up on the replacement and cleaned and installed the original distributor. The jeep ran great again.

Comments about Cardone Distributor {Electronic} w/o Module - Domestic Reman:

The bearings in my original dist. were starting to wine so it was time to replace.the great thing about this unit is that the pickup assy. is all ready installed and that is a recomended replacement when doing a full tune up anyway ,and the complete dist. assy. is only $11 more than just the pick up assy. alone

            A:

The distributor handles several jobs. Its first job is to distribute the high voltage from the coil to the correct cylinder. This is done by the cap and rotor. The coil is connected to the rotor, which spins inside the cap. The rotor spins past a series of contacts, one contact per cylinder. As the tip of the rotor passes each contact, a high-voltage pulse comes from the coil. The pulse arcs across the small gap between the rotor and the contact (they don't actually touch) and then continues down the spark-plug wire to the spark plug on the appropriate cylinder. When you do a tune-up, one of the things you replace on your engine is the cap and rotor -- these eventually wear out because of the arcing.
