Comments about Cardone ABS Hydraulic Unit - Remanufactured:

This reman part fit precisely and solved the problem with the rear-only ABS on my '94 Ranger.
The unit arrived well-sealed and the included installation advice that was short enough to encourage reading it, but not so short that important steps were skipped. I have confidence in my little truck again.
The delivery was prompt although the e-mail confirming my order was blank.

this unit has the bracket and the plug in opposite as my 1989 ford ranger 2.9 2 wheel drive

        A:

I'm happy to help, Lanny! I have only been able to locate units that look like this Cardone ABS Hydraulic Unit (Part No. 12-2029) for a 1989 Ford Ranger 2.9L 2 wheel drive. There is a possibility that Cardone has only provided the image for representation and it does not match the actual product. It's also possible that the vehicle was a midyear type vehicle that utilized parts from a prior year. The 1988 may have used a Bronco II ABS Hydraulic Unit (Part No. 12-2027).

Your local store may be able to help you with locating the correct part if this unit is not correct for your application since they'll be able to look at the unit. You may also find that an enthusiast forum for Ranger owners may be able to shed additional light on the situation. You may also want to enlist the help of a mechanic if you would like additional assistance with the repair, you could try our 'Need expert help?' link further down this page to help locate a mechanic.

would this part cause rear brakes to lock up befpre front brakes hit?

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

No, when the computer detects the one wheel is turning slower than the rest while braking, it stops brake fluid from continuing to flow to that wheel, if this is not enough, it will decrease the pressure remaining in the brake line of that wheel brake. This is performed by the hydraulic brake control unit, who receives the signal from the ABS control module. It enables the driver to maintain steering control and to stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions.
