Comments about Cardone ABS Hydraulic Unit - Remanufactured:

Truck had spongy pedal despite new master cylinder and bleeding of lines as well as all new parts rotors, pads, drums, hoses. This fixed the spongy pedal. Breaks no longer spongy after replacing this. Check yours after all other things check o.k.

Here is my problem, I have an 89 GMC sierra the rear brakes are not functioning I have checked for leaks and there are none, I have heard that it could be fluid proportion valve under the master cylinder. Just wondering I was just wondering if you might could help me thanks hope to hear from you.

        A:

Just try with bleeding brakes, MASTER CYLINDER, NEW WHEEL CYLINDERS and DRUMS. If there is no power assist to your system you most likely have a faulty brake booster. This is the only purpose of the booster to supply power assist to the driver.Check for vacuum to the booster. With the engine not running ,pull the check valve out of the booster, there should be a vacuum noise for about a second. If not replace the booster & the check valve. There is also a proportioning valve located under the master cylinder ,on the frame rail, that divides the pressure from front to rear. In bleeding the brakes the pressure is not as important as getting ALL the air from the system. After trying all these, if the problem continues I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis to avoid any intermittence.
