      A:

      It sounds like your torque converter needs replacement. The splints on the torque converter should have striped out, it is a problem that lot of ford cars and vans have. It will start and you go to put it in gear and nothing happens it is like you are in neutral. It will not make any noise and it happens out of the blue.

    Where is this located on a 2001 Windstar and is it easy to replace at home by myself? The o/d flashes, mileage zero'd out and speedometer does not move until traveled about one mile then it registers speed. Sould like it could be the problem?
