Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

      A:

Control solenoids are cylindrical devices that can be opened or closed to regulate the flow of fluid through them. When specific control solenoids are opened, they allow transmission fluid to flow to specific clutch packs, which changes the gears engaged with the engine.

That sounds more like a vacuum modulator.

  • Q:

I have a 94 Ford Mustang with an AODE transmission. The transmission shifts fine from first to thrid, but sometimes it acts like it is slipping when shifting into overdrive. This occurs more often if I am accelerating. I have changed the fluid and filter twice within the last few months and both times the fluid did not smell burned or look discolored. There was no metal shavings/dust or clutch material in the pan. I really do not think the tranmission needs a rebuild, I think it is electronic. Any help would be appreciated.

Try using a volt meter and checking the prongs on the shift solenoid, check the connections. You can also take the solenoid in the store and compare to a solenoid out the box to compare the readings.

I have a 1994 e-150 ford van .The transmission shifts great from 1st to 2nd but doesn't shift into drive. Could this part be my trouble? if not what part controls the shifting. They called it the transmission modulator on older models,I think.
