BWD manufactures and distributes high technology critical components for late model domestic and import vehicles. Product Features:
  • In design, we specify custom wax formulations that will expand when heated, activate a snap action electrical contact and transfer the electrical signal to the fan controller
  • In manufacture, we custom form the wax pellets for different temperature range specifications. All units are calibrated & tested to confirm switch actuation at their specified temperature
  • The switch is designed using a formed bimetallic contact arm. The bimetal contact movement is achieved using the different expansion rates of two metals fused together. This is a creep action device, provides precise performance
  • In production, all thermal switches are factory-calibrated to make electrical contact at the specified lower-temperature set point
  • Our switches feature a robust design with high grade materials to meet the stringent demands of today's service professional

Comments about BWD Temperature Sender With Gauge:

Factory size for the temp sender is 13mm. Replacement size is 9/16 or 15mm.
The bigger socket you have to use binds up against the valve cover and gets stuck. I am not taking the valve cover off to replace this sender. The socket binding causes you to use excessive force to turn the sender, then the extended socket pops off of one side of the sender and twists because of the universal joint you have to use. Then the top breaks off of the new temp sender.
Broken factory sender went back in without any problems because it's 13mm.

Does the job. I can see where people break them. The install location is all the way in the back of the motor. Slow and easy does it. Once installed, it gave an accurate temperature reading.

Comments about BWD Temperature Sender With Gauge:

I bought this to replace the factory sensor when I put a rebuilt head on my '96 XJ Cherokee. It seemed to work OK for a couple of days, if a bit off from the factory sensor, but then the temp gauge suddenly read 100ºF with the engine at temperature. I removed the sensor and found that the tip had broken off inside the head. After an hour of fishing and prying, I was able to remove the broken tip from the coolant passage. Poor quality, cheaply made, and not recommended.

          Bad sensor

Comments about BWD Temperature Sender With Gauge:

I replaced my old sensor, which worked great, just because I had the cylinder head out for replacement. This new sensor gave me indications that the engine was running hot. It would spike to 250 degrees and then settle out at 225. The thermostat and the rest of the cooling system seemed to work fine. I replaced the new sensor with the old one and everything worked fine again, temp never got above 200.
