WHY OH WHY DID I NOT READ THE REVIEW'S???
well same thing here, except after installing this one to replace the old one that was turning over the engine withOUT THE KEYS IN IT. so i replaced the starter relay located on the steering colume up in the dash, kinda a pain in the ash (you know what i mean), replaced the battery and the disturbtor and rotor and cap and spark plugs.... grrrr if i would have read the reviews i would have not purchased this STUPID, STUPID, STUPID PIECE OF JUNK.

with that said i do hope this review was helpful. and im sure by now you are seeing a pattern. this thing sends juice to the starter even with out the keys in it. can't belive they are still selling them. going with a different brand.

DO NOT PURCHASE -

By

from Leominster, Massachusetts

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Solenoid:

I purchased one at local Advance Auto PArts store. Took it home and tested on a 12 volt DC supply. Did not work. Checked coil. Open. Returned for another. Same. Did not work. Checked coil. Again open. I suspect manufacturing defects. Bottom line. Do not purchase. If purchase despite my foregoing comment, test before you install to confirm works.

Worked once

By

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Solenoid:

Bracket became magnetized on the first use , then the plunger would jump up 1/16 of an inch and stick to the metal bracket , instead of pulling down 1/4 inch and actuating the starter...Had to re-engineer the unit to make it function..

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Solenoid:

Awful piece of junk! Installed in my F-150, turned the key and the darn thing keep turning over the starter even after the truck started! Turned the key off and it was still turning over the starter. It ended up frying my starter motor. Retuned it just a few hours after I bought it. Wish I had read the reviews first.

Buyer beware

By

from Nokesville, va

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Solenoid:

This product is complete junk. I pulled my whole dash trying to trace my ignition wire thinking that the ignition wire was bad. Come to find out that the first solenoid i purchased was bad, I went ahead and bought another for my truck which this brand was the only one that they had available for my truck. After replacing again this time the starter solenoid would get stuck even with key off the starter would continue to crank. Read the reviews and found out afterwards buyer beware!

          • Q:

I just purchased this starter solenoid at your store. The vehicle diagrams indicate that the positive battery should be attached to the "B" terminal but there are no markings on the solenoid which is the "A" and "B" terminals, only the "I" and "S" terminals.
Can you help me identify the proper terminals on my solenoid?
            Thanks,
            Lawrence Perry

Let's do it this way. When looking at the soleniod the s would be left and the l the right. The large terminal on the left goes to the battery. The large terminal on the right goes to the starter. SORRY SO LATE BUT IT MAY HELP OTHER PEOPLE
