      A:

This BWD Continuous Duty Solenoid - part# S5611 is designed to be energized indefinitely without overheating. Holding current is low, and coils readily dissipate the resultant heat. A solenoid should close in 8 to 16 milliseconds. Each time it's cycled, it receives a high pulse of in-rush current that generates heat in the coil. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.
