Used on a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville w/ the 3.8L V6 to get the oil gauge working again. In short, if your gauge goes from 0 to full pressure (120psi) and back to 0 when you turn on the ignition key, the gauge in the dash is good...the problem is a dead sending unit. In my case, it would do the 0 - 120 - 0 and then go back to 120 (pegged) once the car was started. The new unit was roughly 1/2" longer than the factory unit but, it installed without any issues. If you are looking for the location of the sending unit (on the 3.8L/3800 V6)...it's directly above the oil filter, so it's best changed when doing an oil change.

Comments about BWD Oil Pressure Gauge Switch:

For some reason these sending units on Buick 3800's tend to leak oil at the electric connection. Time will tell how long it lasts but, my leak is solved for now.

Removing oil filter allows access to use a 1 1/8" end wrench on sensor.
New sensor comes with thread sealant pre applied.

Comments about BWD Oil Pressure Gauge Switch:

Be aware that the 1 1/16" deepwell socket needed/sold for this product is actually a hair too small. Use a 27mm deepwell as it will fit perfectly.

Comments about BWD Oil Pressure Gauge Switch:

Fixed the problem of a high pressure reading. Looks like a quality part. I found that a deep well 1-1/16" socket fits nicely so you don't have to buy the special socket to r&r the switch. You can also use a wrench but you have to keep switching it around to be able to find space to turn it. No problem.

Hi Rowhoe, I'm glad to assist you. The bad oil pressure switch may also cause the engine not to start. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
