My 2002 Odyssey with almost 190,000 miles started to shudder on the interstate, lost some power and the engine icon on the dash was blinking at me. Got home quickly and I pulled a 1399 code. Was pretty sure it was an ignition coil.

Ordered this coil online for in store pickup. Process was a breeze.

Once I determined which coil was bad, replacement took less than 5 minutes.

Started my vehicle and the engine was purring once again.

After the coil failed (within a month of being installed) I tried to replace it, only to find that the rubber boot at the end came off when I removed the coil. With the boot now firmly attached to the spark plug (and not the coil), I was unable to remove the plug. I have spent several days with various tools trying to get the boot off so that I could replace the coil, with no success. So not only did the coil not fix the problem, it made it worse. One would think that at least, you could make an ignition coil that stayed together. Guess not.

This products looks well made and installed very easily. I had a check engine light and when I had it checked, it indicated a misfire on cylinder 5, I suspected the coil pack after doing a little reading on the internet. I stopped at Advance Auto and picked up this part. After an easy install everything is running smooth for a couple of weeks now and no check engine light!

This was a relatively easy replacement and Installation. Best price around. Only had to replace one, others looked in good shape after inspection. Hardest part was moving around the ratchet and extensions to remove the spark plugs. The Coil Extension is a free floating attachment that clips onto the spark plug. The Advance Auto store in East Windsor had the part waiting for me! Took me 2 hours to do my own tune up!!!

Great question, darrell! You will need to give me the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle so I can properly look up the information. The installation depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

The vehicle could be misfiring, loss in power is one of the most common ways to know your coils are failing.

The easyest way to find out is to unplug each coil one at a time, if the motor seems to bog down when you unplug on then it is working fine, if you unplug one and there is no change then you know that it is in need of replacing

                        • A:

Your car requires 1 for each spark plug. You only need to replace coils when bad, one at a time.

I had 1 Original that blew up at 120k, & after spending 6 hours picking and chiseling it out, I am replacing the remaining 5.

Please note if you need more than 1 you must order them at your store, online will get you only 1 at a time. My local store manager did give me the online discount that was going on (2o% off)

I hope this info was helpful.
