I hesitated to buy this sensor thinking it would give me trouble replacing it but it was changed in about 5 mins. Works perfectly and fixed my problem. And the price was great.

Comments about BWD/Intermotor Engine Coolant Temperature Sender:

Fits my Passat (w/ AUG 1.8T motor) perfectly, prevented a CEL from coming back on, and when the engine is warmed up the temperature gauge is exactly at the center position, where it should be. It would be nice if this came bundled with a new retaining clip, even at a higher price. Otherwise, it's a hassle to order it separately.

Very easy to instal in my 2001 VW Golf 2.0L AEG engine. Disconnect electrical harness, remove the clip, take out the old "O" ring and sensor. Install new sensor. Add more antifreze. It's that easy. Coolant temp gauge works just fine.

This is a perfect fit for the 2000 Passat ATW motor. The previous reviewer siad the connector disdn't fit properly, but they may have changed the design because it clicked together just fine. I like that it comes with a new rubber O-ring as well since they tend to deteriorate with time.

Sensor is easy to change and fits perfectly. The only issue I have with this sensor is that is does not retain itself in the female end of the connector very well because the small tab that locks it into the connector isn't long enough to "snap" into place. Otherwise a solid sensor

In my Audi TT Quattro there is an 0-ring seal and a clip that holds it in that is prone to breaking during this replacement, are these parts included or do I need to order separately?

This may be what is causing your temperature light being on. I would look more into it first because there could be other reasons as to why that light is staying on.
