                        A:

Hi Customer, glad to assist you! A vehicle may not start due to a week battery, alternator, a faulty start switch, power leak problem. But, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

When I start my 2006 Chevy Silverado the starter sometimes continues to crank and once I even shut off the truck and removed the key and it continued to crank until I disconnected the battery. What may be causing this?

Hi Tate, techy question! I think a bad starter, starter solenoid, battery, or any electrical issues could possibly the problem. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

                        A:

I'm glad to help you, William! This BWD Ignition Switch (Part No. CS643) for 2002-2011 GM trucks, vans, SUVs and CUVs must be set with the larger notch with the block section facing out and slightly toward the side with the spring loaded piece on the side. A repair manual for your vehicle will provide more detailed diagrams and instructions for this repair. If you have additional replacement concerns, I suggest speaking with a certified mechanic as improper installation could causes no start or battery drain condition.

I have a 2003 silverado and when i turn the key i can hear the fuel pump and all my lights come on but when i try to turn the truck over it doesn't start or even crank. if i keep trying it does the same thing, after waiting a few min after constantly turning the key it will start like normal. i had a 97 silverado that did the same thing and had the ignition starter switch replaced, is that a normal thing that goes out on the siverado? i would also like to know what kind of bit i need to get the screw out of my cover on my steering column

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Ignition Switch - part# CS643, the ignition switch may be the possible cause of the problem on your Chevrolet Silverado. I would suggest you to get assistance from a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For any further assistance, you may also call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

The ignition starter switch should be your problem. This is located in the steering column. It turns when the key turns.

My 2006 Buick Rendezvous won't start. When I turn the key, the instrument panel lights up and goes through its normal diagnostics and I hear relays switching when I turn the key. The starter doesn't even TRY to turn up. The battery, starter, and ignition/crank relays have all been confirmed good. Could this ignition switch be the problem?

Possibly. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.
