Piece of junk

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Ignition Coil:

Bought this product to replace an original that had lasted 165k miles. This product lasted 500 miles and began causing a misfire in a 2006 Pontiac G6 necessitating a tow. Reinstalled the original coil pack and the car runs fine again. Got it replaced under warranty, but I will not be installing the replacement in the car. Off to purchase a quality AC Delco product instead.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Ignition Coil:

Purchased this coil to replace a failing factory original that was causing sporadic misfire at all cylinders. Installation was super easy with just four 10mm mounting bolts, one electrical plug and of course the spark plug wires. This coil housing is identical to the factory original and is updated with an improved grounding design as visible at one corner mounting bolt hole. The coil's plug wire connectors are numbered for simplification so be sure the plug wires are either numbered or marked before disconnecting from the old coil. This BWD coil is backed by a lifetime warranty although I don't foresee any failure necessitating warranty replacement.

            A:

Hi Keenan, happy to help you! Few possible causes for a stiff steering wheel are a loose or damaged power steering belt, low power steering fluid levels, a damaged or leaking power steering rack or a broken power steering pump. But, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

            A:

Hi Chevy owner, glad to help you! The ignition coil replacement is only necessary if the engine starts to skip or misfire. When this happens, generally speaking the "check engine" light will flash on. The individual coil prices have dropped recently but there is still no need to replace them unless there's signs of the above trouble. Ignition coil performance either works perfectly or not at all. Believe it or not, the lower the electrical resistance on the coils, the cooler and longer they last. To keep the resistance as low as possible, change the factory recommended spark plugs when your service book recommends.

        • Q:

Should the battery be disconnected before installation? If so will that shut down the cars computer? Will the cars computer need to be restarted, rebooted? Are there any other parts you recommend to replace along with the coil pack?
