    how many volts is this coil (BWD P-series E70P)
    I have a 1972 Ford F-100 with a 302cid. my engine does not have a ballest resister. I bought a new coil and also a pertronix electronic ignition kit. it tells me not to go over 40,000 v without a ballest resister. do i need one.

      Hi Gary, I'm glad to assist you! The BWD Ignition Coil - Part No. E70 is considered a 12 volt coil. There is usually a ballast resistor wire in the harness that cuts voltage to the coil+ terminal to 7-9 volts with the key in the run position.

      I'm glad to assist you! That would depend on which ignition system is now being used. As a rule points type systems use lower energy, different resistance coils.
