I figured out that one of these were misfiring and replaced it. It removed the hessitation in overdrive with slight acceleration. After a couple months, it started again and it was another one doing the same thing. Went ahead and ordered the other seven and replaced all of them. Engine runs line it was new again. Only the rear one on the pass side was a bit difficult to get to, the others are very easy.

After reading all the wonderful product comments I guess there has to be a bad egg. Well, its not the product that is bad at all...My local Advanced Auto Personnel sold me the wrong set of coil packs. I had a bad reading on the 5 and 8 cylinder. Was checked by machine and needed coil packs. I took one of my old ones with me and my data to the local Advanced Auto..they matched me up for about 480.00. I bought all eight figuring if 2 are bad now, others soon to follow. Mounted perfect..easy install..truck seemed to run a bit better but not top notch...started taking further advice from my friends at advanced and replaced several hundred dollars in other parts..filters, sensors, plugs, wires...you know...(totalling about 1800.00 including the coil packs)

After complete frustration, engine light staying on, the vehicle running but getting worse...I turned it into the Ford Dealership for help. It took a total of 5 days to work all the issues out so I did not feel so bad...If they needed that long, I wasn't so dumb.....When I got the diagnosis, My idiot meter blasted off the pin....

The whole story...I was sold the wrong set of coil packs....(still trying to figure out what they really go to. Have a # on the side 101013)

Along with the incorrect coil packs, the spark plugs were wrong as well.

After my driving the vehicle trying to determine the problems it was being systematically loaded with raw fuel..

I had to replace the coil packs, plugs, wires, filters, injectors, catalatic convertor and fluids ect... all to the tune of $3032.00

So my coil pack issue cost me about $4832.00, but my truck runs like a raped ape again.Gas milage is up, can pull a trailer and actually pass a car if I want to..(could not do this during the ugly phase of this story)

I am now in the process of attemping to recoup anything I can from my good friends at the Local Advance Auto Parts store.

I have also drafted a letter which I am sending this afternoon to the cooporate complaint office of Advance Auto, with copies of the product sales receipt, my additional purchases with them( I have been, and for the moment still am a loyal customer), the copy of the cost to fix my truck due to installation of incorrect parts sold to me, and a letter from the Ford Maintenance Manager validating this information.

I am allowing the local store manager to make a decision on refunding/store credit type thing for the parts before I send the letter. If he does what I feel is the right thing I will ensure it is included in the letter.

I am then hoping the cooperate customer complaint manager will do me right as well and dive in on my 3000+ dollar repair bill.

I really wished I would have got the coil packs that you other folks did.

*One note regarding the maintenance manager at the Ford Dealership-His son served two tours in Iraq under me. I took him to war and brought him home safe both times. If I had known he was the Ford Maintenance manager I would have went there first. I mention this to abade any comments that the Ford Maintenance folks did anything to screw me.

I welcome comments. Will hold out on recommendation till the local store manager makes a decision.

          Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

I bought one BWD coil about 3 years ago to fix a miss on acceleration. It worked just fine. Now at 95k, miss was back. Changed plugs and miss still present. Changed out other 7 original coils and thought the miss was gone. After a few days, it came back. Towed the boat for a short distance and really noticed the miss at lower speeds. I may have a bad one or two in batch. Not sure I saved any money if I have to buy more. They look solid and first experience was positive. Cannot recommend them at this point.

this would have been the best deal i have ever got on the coils for my truck since i drive 50000 a year i do replace them that is for sure but since the part was replaced in the box with a used part this cost me quite a bit of extra money when the dealer had to replace it with there parts all i can say is OUCH

I had a COP going out causing a 'stuttering' around 45mph so I installed (8) new COP on my 2005 F150 FX4. The quality of this product definetly seems just as good as the OEM product. Installation was very straight foward and only the cylinder 4 & 8 were a little tough due their location. Did not need to remove the fuel rail as others have to replace these. I have a 173K miles on this truck and after replacement I can definetly tell the difference on the way the truck runs. I also gained about 1mpg on highway driving as well. I would buy this product again.

I'm happy to help, Jerry! Your 2006 Mercury Mountaineer Premier V8 has a 4.6L engine and is shared with many other vehicles in Ford's lineup. Cylinder #5 is located at the front of the engine on the driver's side. I found the diagram here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/t2946974-s_number_one_cylinder_ford_f_150_truck. You can also locate a diagram of your engine in a repair manual for your Mountaineer. Part No. 36025

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Ignition Coil - part# E508, measure the coil primary resistance. Using an ohmmeter, connect the red lead to the coil's positive (+) electrical connector, and the ohmmeter's black lead to the coil's negative (-) electrical connector. An average resistance reading could be between 0.3 and 1.0 ohms. Measure the coil secondary resistance. Connect the ohmmeter's black lead to the coil's negative (-) electrical connector and the ohmmeter's red lead to the coil's terminal-where the distributor or spark plug wire attaches to. A typical resistance reading could be 8,000 to 11,500 ohms. The best way to test them is to use an Ohm meter to test the resistance in the sensor. The primary side should test with little resistance and the secondary side should have between 5-15 kilo-ohms. It may be hard to test the resistance in this because the prongs are so small.
