My check engine light came on and my truck began to sputter and buck back and forth. i limped my truck to advance and one of the associates plugged in the diagnostic machine computer. it indicated a cylinder 7 misfire, so i purchased the BWD ignition coil in lieu of the motorcraft ignition coil. after installation, the truck ran smooth as ever.

Bought on-line through Advance Auto Parts. Transaction went very smoothly and picked up item at my local dealer the next morning. Only issue is with Ford. This truck "eats" ignition coils. Been the worst issue I've had with it since buying new 10 years ago. AND, depending on the cylinder needed for, they're "hard" to access and replace. Thanks.

      Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

I went back to the store where I purchased this item and asked them to use their code reader to identify my problem. There were two misfires: one on number 4 and the other on number 2, the one I had just replaced a week earlier. It was a snap to change and it worked like new for about 5 days. I will exchange it and purchase an additional one on the chance it was a bad unit.

        Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

Only took 3 hours to install these 8 coil packs on my '03 Expedition. Check engine light is gone and its running as smooth as the day I bought it. Hopefully they last as long as the original, 178,000 miles.

Fit exactly like OEM. Back cylinder took about 20 min to install. If you have 5.4 3 valve motor I would recommend taking it to a ford mechanic! Mine was not.

The store parts guy should know to keep the boxes that the new replacement coils come in, that way you don't have to keep up with the box and they get a new box to return the part in.

An ignition coil that is completely dead will prevent the engine from starting or will stop the engine if the car is running at the time of failure. This is because no current will reach the spark plugs. An ignition coil that is failing will still provide current to the plugs, but it might not be enough for a full spark and the car will run sluggishly. If the current being provided by the coil isn't consistent, the car will run rough.
