01' Windstar had intermittent miss, changed plugs and wires which helped some. Still missed, bucked, and jerked. Read reviews and decided to try. Car runs smooth and has more power and probably better gas mileage. It belongs to my daughter and she doesn't keep track of that, (or anything else). Replaced coil on my car, ('01 Focus), for same problem with same results and definitly better mileage! Very very pleased!!!

I have replaced this coil more than six times and the epoxy cracks again after a very short time. The upper intake manifold and EGR valve have to be removed to gain access (Ford's design flaw). It is mounted above the right exhaust manifold which subjects the coil to a lot of heat. I have tried to insolate it from the heat, but it still cracks. Recommend relocating coil to another location away from the manifold and using a Motorcraft coil pack. Changing spark plugs and wires did not help.

Quick and easy fix for my 2001 Taurus. Old coil had small crack in it that caused it to miss when damp. It was stock and had 145k on it. Took about 10 minutes, if that, to replace.

Hi Annette I will be happy to answer your question. The ignition coil part number E260 does not show to be a exact fit for your vehicle. Part number 26221 http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/driveworks-ignition-coil-26221/10703942-P does show to be a exact fit. If you are replacing all of them you will need 3, your vehicle uses 3 ignition coils 2 per cylinder.

Diagnosis still comes back as bad ignition coil. Can anything else cause this trouble code? Maybe I got a bad part?

                      A:

Sorry, the Ignition Coil does not control fuel pump. It deliver a spark of several thousand volts to the spark plugs at exactly the right time from a 6 or 12-volt battery. The distributor gets the spark to the right place at the right time in what is called the secondary circuit. The primary circuit initially created the large spark, and at the heart of the primary circuit is the ignition coil. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem. For further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.
