Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

Was getting an ocssasional check engine light. Code was one usually for oxygen sensors but due to bad catalytic converter the oxyxgen sensors and catalytic converterhad been changed.

Noted problem with a/c or defrost on and driving in town ussualyy. Then noticed that the idle would go way down and come up and that is when the light came on. Noted that the idle speed was low on the motor so changed the idle air control valve.

      Car is running great now.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

Car was idling bad and finally threw a ses light so I checked the code and the IAC was bad. Bought this from Advance and it fixed the problem immediately. Car seems to run better and starts like it should now!

Only complaint I have with is that the warranty should be at least 2 years like it would be if you bought a Duralast from Autozone instead of just a year warranty. Advance has a better online ordering system, normally a website coupon you can use and the store is closer is why I continue to use AAP.

              Asked on 2/5/2014 by Brad

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Hi Brad, great question! A bad idle air control valve can cause a car to stall immediately after ignition in warm weather, but the vehicle will start properly when it is cold. When the accelerator is pressed, however, the car will stall. Likewise, if the temperature outside is warm enough, the car may start even though the idle air control valve is bad but will require the driver to immediately press the acceleration pedal to keep it from stalling. But there could be many reasons for the vehicle to hard start. This really may need a mechanic’s expertise to determine. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

                A:

This could possibly be the problem and the symptoms of bad idle control valve are Low RPMs, Stalling, Rough Idle and Cut-off in cold start. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

This could cause that. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.
