Comments about BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

My 1993 Suburban was having stalling problems and I was able to trouble shoot the IAC valve as the cause. I also changed several other needed sensors with BWD aftermarket parts and the truck runs great. I will have to see how well these parts hold up but they all appear to be well made.

Comments about BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

My 94 Sierra was idling about 1700 RPM. I was told it was a vacuum leak. After looking around and replacing a couple of hoses I chose to replace the IAC. At first it idled higher but after driving for a little bit it is back down to where it should be. I should have bought this part sooner.

                      A:

The idle air control motor or valve is a device in charge of maintaining an acceptable engine idlespeed by letting a controlled amount air passed the throttle plates. This acceptable idle speed is determined by what the ECM considers to be the “DESIRED IDLE”, which is an actual PID on the scan tool. The ECM is constantly comparing the actual idle engine RPM to its internal pre-programmed desired idle speed. The inability of the ECM not to be able to match these two values creates a problem for proper idle operation. Not all scanners provide the desired idle PID, and there are variants of idle air control valves. In essence, they all accomplish the same thing. The IAC motors/valve is directly controlled by the ECM, regardless of the type.
