I replaced the blower motor resistor on my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer. #4 on my blower speed dial wasn't working. I replaced the first one and everything worked fine, #4 started working again, then the next day, it blew. I went through three of them in the matter of a week. I took my car in to a shop and they didn't find anything wrong with the system other than the blown resistor pack. What the heck people. I expect more from Advance. This is junk. Don't buy it.

Comments about BWD HVAC Blower Motor Resistor:

I installed this today on my 03 Envoy. I was weary about removing the glove box and how much work I was going to get into. But, it was very easy. 2 screws take the cover off under the box. Pop off the connector to the resistor itself. You can reach the second connector from under the dash (without removing the glove box). Slip it under the rubber band to remove it, then 2 screws to remove the resistor. The only problem was that upon installation of the new resistor I realized that I had to put it in backwards for the screw holes to match up. I thought that was very weird. Anyway everything plugged in and screwed together perfect after that. All speeds now work. The wife is happy (and so am I)!! I could change it out again in 10 minutes flat!

this was a direct replacement for the factory blower resistor. make sure to check the connection as well as usually it is melted into the resistor pack and will need to be replaced.

In my Trailbazer, removing the glove box made access much easier to see what was going on.

I would suggest you to take your vehicle and thoroughly checked with a certified local mechanic before buying the parts that may/may not solve the problem.

If it is your manual HVAC system, then the blower motor resistor pack is defective or the blower motor itself is bad. If it is the Automatic digital HVAC, then blower motor control module is defective or the blower motor itself is bad.

Without the presence of your vehicle, we could not provide the exact solution. It is advisable to contact a certified mechanic to identify the exact problem and then you can purchase the exact part from your local Advance Auto Parts store.

I have an 2006 GMC XL Envoy 6cyl, The fan speeds 4 and 5 do not work most of the time , only if I switch back and forth several times does 4 or 5 work but it does not last long and thay stop working again. Do you think that the Blower Motor Resistor could be the problem or the Fan Control Switch that I turn to change the speeds be the problem?

I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

This could be the problem. With out the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

I purchased a blower motor resistor from the local store. Where is the resistor located on 2004 Trailblazer?
I may also need to purchase a blower motor.

passenger side of the dash under the glovebox. a couple of bolts/screws are holding it in. If your a/c only works on high this is what should fix your problem a blower motor isn't necessarily what you need.
