It looks better made than the original but I ended up exchanging it for the one with the 4 holes instead of 2. The one with 4 holes bolted right in and did not require the plastic cover from the original unit. So far, it works great. I would just say to check carefully which one you need.

OEM Lasted 14yrs ...this one -- 9 months

Comments about BWD HVAC Blower Motor Resistor:

Easy to install on my 2000 Silverado. The original AC Delco lasted 13 years. This one lasted barely 9 months. If you need an inexpensive quick fix, then this part is fine; but I'm not going to be replacing this part every year when I expect it to last several years. Next one will be OEM original. I'll pay more for one OEM that'll last 10 yrs versus several inexpensive resistors that will cost triple in duplicate part replacement costs and wasted time.

Blower motor is OEM (AC Delco) and was checked for proper current/voltage measurements; so that is not the reason this low cost part did not last.

Item works on my 07 classic Silverado but mounting holes don't line up. Had to remount with screws and it worked fine. I would recommend using this for a cheap fix but if you are a perfectionist buy the RU1264 for $54.99

States that it is an exact match for 2006 silverado. It does not match up to the factory fitting. I had to drill hole into my dash and screw in with a large screw. Advanced does not accept electrical returns so I have it mounted with electrical tape. Very Unhappy customer

Just this morning I replaced the 12 year old resistor (which was about to burn out) in my 02 Silverado with this part. The fit is perfect and hopefully the longevity will be equally impressive however it does have a limited lifetime warranty if needed.

Comments about BWD HVAC Blower Motor Resistor:

While the price was good, the item would not fit. The original resistor uses a base to properly mount the unit. Since this one is not exactly same form/fit/function, the base did not fit and it could not be mounted as is. I had to by the RU1264 unit which has an additional two mounting holes (for an additional $27.00!!!!) Seems rather expensive for two plastic dog ears for mounting.

Works great, and was easy to install. This resistor is an improved design over the original factory one. I did have to rotate the plug, but that was no big deal. Nice to have all my fan speeds working again.

Hi Dawg, great question! The blower motor resistor should be the possible cause of the problem on your vehicle. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

With reference to this BWD Blower Motor Resistor - part# RU1064, the problem could be a faulty rear blower motor or resistor on your Tahoe. You will need check the fuse for this circuit first. It is in the under hood fuse block FUSE - RR HVAC 30 AMP and there is another fuse in the L. instrument panel fuse block for the switch FUSE IGN 3 -10 AMP. Test these with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt meter. Next you will need to access the blower motor and test for voltage at the motor and the resistor. A:

Yes, this BWD Blower Motor Resistor(Part No. RU1064) fits your 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8. Symptoms of a Bad Blower Motor Resistor: Intermittent Operation: When the resister of the blower motor starts to fail, the motor operates only intermittently. This often presents itself as the blower fan not kicking on until the engine is producing a certain level of electric current. The higher current can make the jump across the resistor contacts that are going bad and get the blower motor to engage. The blower motor could stop working again on longer road trips when the car is at a cruising speed and the electrical current of the motor drops again. No Lower Settings: The lower settings of the blower motor require less electrical current to engage. But when the resistor of the blower motor is failing, it creates a larger gap between the connectors. This gap may be too far for the electric current to travel across. When this happens, the lower settings of the blower motor aren't able to function. The top setting of the blower motor may still be operational. Reduced Air Movement: Reduced airflow is when the blower motor is trying to move air through the vents but the resistor isn't sending enough power to move the air with much pressure. The blower motor resistor is receiving power but not the full force. Reduced air movement can occur at all of the different speed settings of the motor blower. Depending on how much resistor is still functioning, the reduced airflow could be an intermittent problem.
