Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve:

In my application, you must match up the part number of the original to get the correct replacement, and that makes getting the correct part a little tedious. The EGR valve also does not look like the one in the picture (stock valve) and I'm always a little leary of non-oem type replacements. That being said, the truck was an older model, and I was looking for an economical part, and this was it. It did perform correctly, and solved the problems I had, and I have to give it credit for that. I did write down the original part number in case of need of future replacement though.

I'm glad to assist you! This BWD Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve - Part No. EGR102D does not include the gasket. You'll need the EGR Valve Mounting Gasket - Part No. EVG10 for this valve.

        A:

exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction technique used in petrol/gasoline and diesel engines. EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders.
Symptoms of a bad EGR include:
        Rough Idle
        Pinging
        Hard starting
        Failed Emission Testing
