The oil pressure would drop giving an error. Replaced the sensor and have not had the error come back. You have to remove the oil filter to replace the sensor.

I was ready to scrap my Jeep 4.0 L with 216k miles, however, the low oil pressure indication on my dash oil gauge was fully rectified by installing a replacement oil pressure sender.

Great OEM replacement part and easy to replace on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Will require a 1 1/16" deep socket. Replaced part and oil pressure gauge was back in service, no more worries?

The port hole in this switch is smaller than the OEM version for the 3.7L Jeep Libery and it causes this switch to read lower oil pressure at certain RPM's. Product may work for smaller engines in the Liberty but not the 3.7L.

If your oil pressure is remaining that high, I would suggest having it checked with a manual pressure gauge to see if the reading is accurate. It sounds to me as if you might have a bad oil sending unit. If the oil pressure sending unit is good, check the oil pressure relief valve. It may be stuck closed resulting in high pressure reading.

I came to a stoplight and noticed my check gauges light was on. I then noticed my oil pressure gauge was a 0 when I started driving it went back up to normal. It continued to do this so i shut it down and an hour later i checked it again and it worked fine. Any one have this issue before. 99 jeep grand cherokee laredo, 4.0

exact same issue. The oil pump is working best I can tell so everything points to this. Others have commented similarly so I am replacing it and observing.

Check out this forum site. Sounds like I was having the same problem with my oil pressure light coming on after the engine warmed up. I hope this will help you...
