Q:what is the middle wire going to because i just bought the part and hooked it up and can not find where the middle wire goes.... some tell me its a ground some say its not
A:For step by step instructions i recommend that you go to your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and purchase a repair manual.
A:Look at the original connector & circuit. If you're on for an '00-'02 Grand Marquis or Crown Vic (like me) there are only two terminal blades at the alternator; the middle guy on this aftermarket can't/won't go to anything. The only other connection, which you may or may not be concerned with, at the alternator is the the gigantor 6-8ga bolt-on guy, and that goes to the engine junction box where it meets up with a direct feed from the battery... Long story short, you'd just be cutting, capping and taping this middle guy up with the other two wires into the wire loom. What I'd be more concerned with is how this particular socket would fit at that terminal; if it's anything like my alternator, I'd be a little more leery of the generic, doesn't-look-like-the-original-one-at-all molding of this piece.
