Comments about BWD EGR Control Solenoid:

This control solenoid for the EGR valve did not work for my auto. It made the EGR valve get hot and start smoking. The engine idled rough because the solenoid was opening the EGR valve while idling. I had to reuse my old solenoid. I don't think that was my problem any way.

My EGR Valve was getting vacuum constantly, Which means the vacuum solenoid is no good. So I bought this from my local Advance Auto & put it in. Same problem. So I brought it to my dealer shop and hooked it up to the computer & it had the same problem. The part was faulty. Be Warned. Go with factory motorcraft for this part.

Hi Gene, I could be of some help! If the solenoid is out of specification, or stuck open, possibly a reason. However, it’s very hard to say without doing the checks. If the EGR solenoid (EGR3001) is stock open allowing vacuum to the EGR, you will have a low rough idle. If the solenoid is open or shorted you can have this code without necessarily having any noticeable symptoms. Or, it could be unrelated. You need to do the checks of the EGR system.

I'd be happy to help you with that! The hoses should just slip on over the ridges pictured. If it uses a clamp, you will have to remove the clamp first. You should be able to pull the hoses off by hand if they are still in good condition.

Hi Ken, glad to serve you! The engien code P0402 is for High Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) flow control and P1400 is for Differential Pressure Feedback Electronic (DPFE) circuit low voltage. However, I would suggest that you to take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

Hi Kenny, glad to assist you! In fixing a code P0401, it is quite common for people to just replace the EGR valve only to have the OBD code return. The EGR valve is not always the culprit. This code is most likely means one or more of the following has happened: The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced or there is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup and also the EGR valve is faulty The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vacuum.
