      The purpose of this switch is to prevent the engine being started while in gear, when the switch is pressed, the engine will only start while in the park or neutral settings.

      The neutral safety switch prevents the engine from being startedunless the shift selector of the transmission is in Neutral or Park. It disables the starting circuitwhen the transmission is in gear.
