Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Canister Purge Solenoid / Purge Valve:

My check engile light came on a few days ago, and the code read low pressure regarding the EVAP system. So the normal procedure is to start with replacing the gas cap with one from the FACTORY (done); next, check all hoses (done); then, replace the purge valve...so here is where I am. I have done the first three steps, but this still haven't solved my problem. The next thing would be to replace the purge seleniod that is near the gas tank. I will do that next. Since this didn't stop my check engine light from coming on, I couldn't give it 5 stars...but I will give it 4 due to not being the parts fault.

Hi Alex, glad to assist you! This part should be located on the left side of the intake manifold just under and behind the throttle body. To get more specific information on the location of this part I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it show the location and also explain how to install, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle. The repair manual part number is 24072.

I have a 1999 Firebird. Is this the valve that connects to the EVAP Canister or is this the one that is on top of the engine manifold? My CarMD says I need to replace the one that connects to the canister. It calls it the Canister Purge Valve not Purge Valve Solenoid.
