  • Q:

When you press the brake pedal the brake lights come on and then go off after a couple of seconds even when you continue to keep the pedal pressed. It's the same every time the brake pedal is pressed. Does this sound like the Module or something else?

Hi Greg, I'm glad to assist you. The faulty brake light switch may also cause this problem. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

  • Q:

What is the purpose of the instrument panel wiring harness module? What are the symptoms if this unit is bad? Is it part of the electronic brake control module?

I'm happy to help, The Weekender! BWD calls this a Brake Indicator Lamp Module (Part No. GPL100). It is part of the electronic brake control module system. This part controls the illumination of the ABS light on the dash. The most noticeable symptom of its failure would be the ABS lamp does not illuminating when starting the vehicle.

A repair manual for your 1993 Buick LeSabre 3.8L V6, such as Haynes Part No. 19020 or Chilton Part No. 28200, may provide diagnostic procedures. If you require additional diagnostic assistance, I suggest consulting with a certified mechanic.
