Sensor - ABS

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD ABS Speed Sensor:

This product does not fit as described. In the Pontiac 1991 there is a ABS sensor part with the number 10458036 which is made out of metal and the now suggested spare part is out of a Plastc and too larege to be fitted. Attention!

  • Q:

Web site (and local store) says this is the right part for my 2001 Impala. Chilton's says no, that sensor is integral in wheel hub assembly, and entire assembly must be replaced. Which is correct? I'd prefer to not have to tear-apart the front-end to find out.

    Thanks

      A:

As per the manufacturer BWD this is the correct part for 2001 and 2000 Chevy Impala. However Impala was first equipped with ABS in 2001 and the wheel speed sensors are built into the wheel bearing/hub assembly. This means the entire assembly has to be replaced.

      A:

It's located inside the transmission, it is on the back side of the motor and to the right and lower than the alternator.
