Comments about Buyers Snowplow Oil - Low-Temperature:

I have had plow trucks for 25 yrs. Always used ATF in the pumps. never had my fluid freeze. This year I serviced my pump and used this overpriced product and have had my pump fluid freeze up at 5 degrees above 0. It is a huge waste of money. you can buy 3 qts of ATF for the price of 1 qt. of this oil. Save your money and don't buy this.

I have a fisher minute man snow plow since new in 1997. Have always used ATF because it says to on pump and in manual- but is sluggish with sd winter cold. Would it be ok to switch to this fluid?

Yes Grizzly1, you can very well switch to this low-temperature hydraulic fluid for high-pressure snowplow hydraulic systems. The antiwear formula protects to -50 degrees Fahrenheit. It replaces Meyer 15134, Western 49311, Fisher 28531, Sno-Way 96005029 oils.

    • A:

ATF is fine for snowplows, but this stuff is better for its flow characteristics and protection of the pump. the best thing to use is manufacturer brand, but this is a close second. i actually never use ATF in a ford p/s pump though because they kill ATF. p/s fliud is better for that; doesn't burn up or thin out as fast. i'd prefer p/s fluid over ATF for my plow, but only if they didn't make this oil anymore. it doesn't slow down in colder temps like ATF or p/s fluid
