OK, so I thought I would weigh in on this as I always appreciate honest feed back from other end users. I'm currently driving an "02 Dodge Caravan with the 3.3 Liter V-6. It was purchased used with 158k on the clock, and from the time I started driving it in mid February I noticed that the heat in the cabin would come and go – mostly go. It was chilly. The temperature gauge would also swing wildly between normal operating temperature, then all the way up to hot, then back down again (though I never overheated it). The next thing I noticed was that when I would park it in the garage, it would puke coolant on the floor (bubbling out of the overflow catch-can). Our mechanic did a C02 / coolant test and said there was no doubt that I had either a leaking head gasket or a cracked head. The cost of the estimated repair was between $1100 and $1500 depending on what had to be done and whether a new or used head was available. I started looking on-line for alternatives and stumbled on the customer reviews of this product. While there were just a precious few negative reviews, most were overwhelmingly positive, and the thing that struck me most were a couple people who failed on the first attempt because they realized they didn't follow instructions, but tried again and it worked on the second try. I did have to swallow hard at the price of about [$] per quart, but compared to the previously mentioned estimate, it started to look like a possible bargain, so I thought "Why not?"The instructions look deceptively simple. But when they say the engine must be cold, they mean ice cold as in "first start-up of the day". I started out on Saturday morning by removing the thermostat, draining and flushing the system, then I let it sit all day to cool. It was a mild, sunny day about 60 degrees and by about 4:30 in the afternoon the engine felt cool to the touch. Being the ADD, instant gratification fool that I am, I decided to start the process of running the vehicle with the prescribed amount (half the bottle) of Blue Devil in the coolant. While the instructions call for idling for at least 50 minutes, most of the successful reviews said to allow for at least two hours. I realized immediately that I had screwed up as the heater began to produce some heat almost immediately. It wasn't cool enough! To make matters worse, I had not glued the thermostat in place on it's housing, and it slipped down between the housing and the block when I had bolted it in it's vertical position. My precious coolant / Blue Devil elixir was leaking on the driveway - Doah!! Nothing to do but let it cool overnight and reload for Sunday. With a little more focus and determination, I started Sunday on a mission. I first dumped all the coolant, removed and cleaned the thermostat hosing and block surface, then glued the thermostat into position on its housing with a thin bead of silicone seal. Using some twine, I tied this assembly into a horizontal position so it wouldn't move before it set up. After about two hours, I bolted the thermostat back in place, added the remaining half quart of Blue Devil, and filled the radiator with 50/50 coolant and water. I then started the engine, set the heater on high and let it idle for two hours.Sunday was an even warmer day – about 70 degrees in N.E. Ohio in late February (I love this Global Warming thing!) But I knew almost immediately something was different. Where it used to take the heater forever to produce any noticeable heat, it came on like gang busters after only a few minutes. Where the temperature gauge used to fluctuate wildly, it was rock steady at just a tick under half way. It's been about a month since I did all this and absolutely nothing has changed. The heat still comes quickly and in quantity, the temperature gauge never budges above half way, and no more coolant on my garage floor. I've checked the coolant level several times and the radiator wouldn't accept more than about ¼ to ½ cup to fill to the top – about as full as you'll ever keep a cooling system. Because of the warm spring, I've even had several opportunities to use the air conditioner on a couple of 80 degree days and the temp gauge doesn't budge. Will this last? I have no idea – I'm in uncharted waters here. But the general consensus seems to be that if it eventually fails, you can just re-apply. For the money spent versus the estimated repair, I am truly a happy camper so far.

Do not put this [*] matter in your cooling system unless your car is going to quit forever very soon. In April 2011 I had a number 4 cyclinder misfire problem and used my portable digital scan reader to diagnose the problem. I proceeded to buy and use the Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealant for the problem. I followed the directions on the bottle to the letter. One of the directions was to close off the interior heater before starting the car, driving the car, and then allowing car to cool off completely before reopening the heater core, which i did. It was April and the weather turned warm and stayed that way until October. Then was when I discovered that my interior heater would not work. I went back and forth to my mechanic. I replaced the radiator and water pump. Also had several flushes and back flushes done. Finally the mechanic scrubed the cooling system hoses and block. Whiteish gray pebbles came out of this scrub job according to him. Now the heater works OK after spending almost 1K on fixing this problem. In late January 2012 I e-mail the USA Sealant Company explaining the problem, expense, and to be reimbursed. We e-mailed back and forth and talked on the phone once. The final conclusion was that they will not pay any of my expenses. I did get a refund for the bottle at the auto parts store. The clerk there did say that this product would restrict and potentially block portions of your cooling system. Buyer beware this junk.

I needed a service center to use Blue Devil for me because I am disabled. We tried it on the recommendation of a friend who said it would seal the small leak my 98 Windstar had by the "front seal plate," though the service center was unfamiliar with the product. The work was done in May, 2015, and so far, (July, 2015) the van is doing just fine, though the repair shop was expensive for me. My van has been modified for the hauling of my mobility scooter or wheelchair, so BLUE DEVIL was my last resort. As of this writing, I would certainly recommend the product. It seems to be working as promised.

Was going through 2 bottles of fluid a day had a bad leak . Put Blue Devil in as instructed let idle for 50 minutes worked perfectly no overheating. Wish I had used this product first before I replaced my radiator, water pump, Hoses etc... when this is probably what it needed in the first place.

use as last resort before you have it towed to the junkyard. Makes a mess internally of engine and if you go to fix head gasket it will be a nightmare to clean passages. Remove catalytic convertor and bypass heater core first, may clog radiator

Well hey I have some news to share with you all, how about I finally put the blue devil head gasket sealant stuff in my ride this morning November 4th after doing all of the necessary steps to ensure it will do it's job right, the first five to ten minutes of cranking up my ride when I slowly poured the sealant in slowly when I shook it up good so it can mix up right, and I turned the heater on max high as indicated on the bottle right, I saw some smoke at first as it was reaching normal temperature right, then within 20 minutes and so on, the smoke disappeared from the tail pipe, and from that point on up to 50 minutes I was not seeing no more smoke and I said to myself, this product actually really does it's job as indicated, time will tell how long it will it will last, if it is a permanent sealant then that sounds like it is a permanent repair guaranteed. I do not feel like spending money to have the head gaskets cleaned and stuff, oh no. So I'm ready to take my ride for a test and reveal the results,

I have a 2004 pontiac grand am gt and have water in my oil with overheating. I used a cheap bottle of sealant previously and it held for only a short period. I am so scared of clogging the system up. I watched a video on bypassing the water resevoir and radiator. This is how I put the cheap bottle in. Hi Dazey, glad to assist you! I would recommend that you solve all cooling related problems first. For example a defective fan switch, fan clutch, clogged or restricted cores, heavy scale and sediment deposits, or systems jellied from antifreeze must all be properly functioning and capable of adequately cooling the vehicle. If you still face the same issue, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.Q:

Hi Tyeebch, glad to assist you! Yes, the small chunks you see are telltale signs of a radiator that is in need of service. When you do not change the fluids often enough under severe operating conditions or in areas with hard water, scale deposits form in the passages of the core. Sometimes these old fluids will jell or crystallize and can be seen in the system. You may need to flush the cooling system using a flushing agent or a flushing machine to remove these chunks.Q:
