Comments about Bell Automotive Lighted Compass:

Looks quite stylish, but will only work properly in a certain part of the car and that place is the front passenger seat, if they hold it while sitting there. In any other part of the car, the compass shows ALL DIFFERENT directions for each part of the car that it is placed in. I have a 2007 Honda CRV and have tried placing this compass on the dashboard, hanging from the windhield on the inside and even outside on top of the sideview mirror. The only place that it will work is if held by the passenger sitting in the front passenger seat.

Comments about Bell Automotive Lighted Compass:

This compass cannot handle being inside of the car, even if it is mounted to the windshield. In order to use it, you must either hang your arm out of the window or stop the car and get out.

            • Q:

How does one reverse the mount attachment to use the suction cups on the windshield? It appears to be impossible to use any kind of tool to remove the screw so as to reverse the mount. And if it were possible to remove the screw, it would be even more impossible to ever re-thread the screw. Tell me how to reverse the mount.

                A:

Hi Jim, glad to assist you! It is not necessary to remove the screw to reverse the mount. The screw only tightens up the angular adjustment. Please view the right hand side of the instruction sheet that has been sent to your email address. The entire mount, including the hinge and screw slides down out of the main housing, then you slip the mount down inside from the top and re-slide back into housing to reverse it.

This compass seems to continually point in the wrong direction. How do I calibrate it?

                A:

Go to a place where you can make a wide circle with your car. A parking lot or open field is a good location. You're going to need room to move, and you don't want to create a traffic hazard while you are doing so. Put the compass into calibration mode. The steps for your particular model will be listed in your owner's manual. Turn on all the electronics and functions that will normally be on in the car: lights, radio, heater and anything else you'll use. The compass needs to calibrate with all the interference present so that later it doesn't create an issue in finding direction. Make two complete revolutions in a circle. Once you've driven in two circles, stop the car and take the compass out of calibration mode. The cardinal points and directions the compass found during the calibration are now set and ready for use while you drive. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representative there would be more than happy to assist you.
