Temperature-controlled valve located in the hot leg between the engine and radiator. Often mounted on the cylinder head. Controls the flow of coolant through the radiator and regulates heat dissipation. The thermostat allows the engine to reach its operating temperature as quickly as possible to reduce oil dilution, cylinder bore wear, fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and improve the efficiency of the heating system.     I have a 1991 Geo Prism LSI with a 4ACFE motor and the owners manual calls for a 195 thermostat. Everyone wants to put a 180 in it but it is running poorly now with the 180 and will just get worse as it has cooled down, so why can't I find a 195 this Beck/Arnley is the closest at 192 degrees. Thanks

      Yes, this part fits your 1991 Geo Prizm LSI and it is always recommended to buy the higher degree thermostat.
