  • Q:

I'm looking at brake rotors for 2004 thunderbird. Is this rotor a harder metal or what makes it so much more expensive. My current rotors on the front are worn badly but the pads are good, why? Soft metal in oem rotor?

I'm happy to help, Dennis! This Beck/Arnley Premium Brake Disc (Part No. 083-2799) is engineered to meet OE specifications for both materials and dimensions. Some brake pads can wear out rotors quicker than others. Most original equipment brake rotors are made of cast iron. I would assume that with the vehicle being 10 years old, the brake pads have been replaced at least once or twice by now. That should certainly provide enough time for the rotors to wear to their minimum thickness.

Beck/Arnley parts are typically used on foreign nameplate vehicles. Your 2004 Ford Thunderbird 3.9L V6 also has Wearever Brake Rotors (Part No. YH145270) available that will also meet or exceed original equipment specifications.
