  • Q:

Would this part going bad cause my truck not to fire??? If so where is it located?
    Asked on 10/23/2014 by Birdshot

      A:

Yes Birdshot, A faulty ignition coil resistor will cause an engine not to fire. If the resistor has failed, the engine will run with the key in the start position, then immediately die when the key is returned to the run position. If that describes your symptoms, the ballast resistor is the first place to look. Simply bypass the resistor temporarily with a jumper wire. If that solves the problem, replace the ballast resistor and you should be good to go. If it is not working, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any other parts that may/may not solve the problem.
