Comments about Beck/Arnley Engine Mount:

Purchased this to attempt to eliminate a "clunking" sound when accelerating/decelarating, which changing this part did not eliminate. The old one's bushing was all broken/cracked, so replacement was still worthwhile. Removal/replacement was a pain, due to it's location, but I got it done. You must remove battery, battery tray, and something that looks like a weight/vibration dampener thing mounted to the front rail, as well as the lower shroud, then work on the mount from the above/driver's side and from below. The bracket that mounts the engine mount to the block (4 bolts) must come off as well, or the mount will not come out. Busted knuckles and half a day later, it's done. The electrical connection for the sensor plugged up like factory and worked as intended, with no dinging as mentioned above.

    Comments about Beck/Arnley Engine Mount:

I ordered this part online and had it installed by a local mechanic. After bringing it home the mount was buzzing for 3 seconds at a time when starting the car, when shutting the engine off and at other times when running. I took it back to the mechanic & he said the electronic portion was defective, so he unplugged it. It is not buzzing now, but I'm not 100% pleased.

I've never seen a motor mount with an electrical connection. What's it do?

        A:

Hi Billy, good question! The electrical connector plugs into the wiring harness which goes to the computer. In the mount is a sensor. This sensor regulates when and the amount of hydraulic fluid fills the mount. This sensor runs off the wheel speed sensor and engine speed sensor. When the car is sitting still or driving slow the mount is soft but when engine speed picks up the mount begins to fill with fluid to stiffen the ride. With the connector unplugged the check engine light will be on.
