For a while my 1999 Chevy Blazer leaked coolant, at first just a few drops a week. Then it progressed to me being able to see coolant coming out from under the car onto the ground after shutting the car off. My monthly routine of adding coolant to the reservoir and radiator turned into a weekly routine, at least. We will have this car paid off in February of 2011 and have already dumped a ton of money into it. My mantra for the last few months has been to spend no more big money on this thing. Just hold it together until it is paid off, at least.
As time went on I would add coolant to the reservoir, drive it around long enough for the engine to get hot (has not overheated) and then returned home. I check the reservoir and poof, all fluid is gone, even minutes after coming home. All on the driveway.
I went to Advance Auto and got Bars Stop Leaks, part #1109: Turn engine off and wait until it is cool enough to take Radiator cap off. Then, pour entire contents into radiator. This took longer than I would have thought, like 5 minutes, as the stuff is pretty thick. Then, top off with anti-freeze, which I was unable to do at first because the treatment is thick and takes a while to move. So I just put in as much anti-freeze as possible in radiator and also top off reservoir. Put the radiator cap back on. Turn heat on high and all the way into the red (hottest heat) then turn car on. Run for 5 minutes straight with heat on high. Then, turn car off, and when engine is cool enough, check radiator and top off fluid in both reservoir and radiator, as the 5 minutes with the heat on has allowed everything to circulate. I topped everything off on Saturday. It is now Monday and I have not seen a drop of anti-freeze and even the smell has disappeared. It has only been 2 days, so who knows. And for $3.00 or so I will continue to do this again and again if need be. But I am hopeful that this will work.

My 1997 Ram 2500 V8 sprung a leak out of nowhere coming from somewhere behind the alternator. A big one. So, i took a shot with this stop leak first and im glad i did. Within 1 minute, the leak slowed. In 3, it slowed to a slow drip. In 5, there was 1 drip every 30 seconds. After a trip around the block, no leak whatsoever. This was a miracle, it worked in -5 degree weather when i couldn't work on it! Great product. Would use it again and again and again.

I had a radiator leak and needed a quick fix while the radiator was being delivered. Dumped this goop into my radiator and the leak stopped long enough to get a new radiator. Later on, I found that my coolant reservoir was not draining into the radiator when it should. I took the hose out and found the clog. It was about five inches long and orange.
Be careful with this stuff, it's works for a real emergency, but can cause unwanted clogs down the road.

Comments about Bars Leak Liquid Copper Block Seal Intake and Radiator Stop Leak (18 oz.):
1997 Park Ave. had developed a leak in one of the gaskets and was leaking coolant. Poured product in radiator and drove for 825 miles. It didn't immediately stop the leak, but by 825 miles after putting in coolant, the leak was totally stopped. I believe it really helped that I drove the car at operating temperature for 50 miles each time I ran the car. I think that made the product really work properly with a very hot coolant to adhere to the leaking gasket area. It saved me lots of money and also no down time with the car. This is just great stuff to just add to your coolant for the "just in case" leak as what happened in my case.

My 2001 Buick Century had been reliable transportation for members of my family since it was brand new. I recently invested new brakes, exhaust, suspension pasts, etc., into this car so my daughter could use it to commute to school. As soon as I put these parts into the car, it started raining coolant from out behind the timing cover. Now my girls college ride was worth about 10 cents per pound at the local recycler. Before I drove the Buick 3.1L V6 to the scrap yard, I took a shot at using Bar's Leaks Liquid Copper to seal the hidden hard to reach leak. I had used Bar's Leaks products in the past with success for minor radiator leaks but I had never heard of Liquid Copper or tried to seal this big a leak. For about 10 bucks, I thought why not give it a try. It was easy to use and IT WORKED! This engine is bone dry! No more coolant raining out from behind the timing cover! If you have a hard to reach, labor intensive / expensive coolant leak, give Bar's Leaks Liquid Copper a try. For me, it was like money in the bank!

New intake manifold gaskets started leaking again after 18,000 miles, luke warm heat, smell coming from vents. One bottle into the radiator and blazing heat with no more smell.

I had a real bad leak did not know if it was head gasket or crack in head or cylinder. Had a lot of water coming out the exhaust, and had to add a quart every 25 miles. But either which , this stopped the leak. This stuff works great!! I added it to the coolant overflow tank, it takes a little while longer for it to circulate through the system but well worth it. I did not have money for new head gasket but if it was a crack, i would of wasted money. SO now there is no more water getting into the cylinder,it was fouling the plugs real bad too. Now i actually have pressure in the cooling system, and my car runs about 20 degrees cooler.

I was skeptical at first on trying this. But I do not have the money to fix a small leak right now. The garage wanted $1000 to do it. I put this in and ran the engine as required. It has been three weeks and I no longer smell the anti freeze when I get out of my vehicle.

Had a small hole in a copper core radiator that was spraying coolant at the fan. Poured this product in, let it idle for 15-20 mins, drove it a couple miles and months later the leak is still sealed. I even had to drain the system recently for a new water pump and the product is still holding.

I have a 2004 Chevy Venture. It is overheating and I know there is a leak around the coolant bypass tube. I have replaced the o-ring and it continues to leak. I believe I also have an intake gasket leak. However, as this is my primary mode of transportation I will not be able to get to replacing the gasket for a week or so. Is the purpose of this product to stop/slow these types of leaks? Also, once I get around to replacing the gasket, will this product create a hard to clean mess in the engine around those leaking areas?1 answer

I'm happy to help, Tommy! This Bars Leak Liquid Copper Block Seal Intake and Radiator Stop Leak (Part No. 1109) is intended to seal larger leaks and it is the only product that is specifically intended for intake manifolds. It's possible that this product could clog a heater core is not clean internally. If either your radiator or your heater core were to become clogged, you may be able to have them flushed to clear the contaminants.Q:

2004 Tahoe Z71, this product can be put into the reservoir tank correct?1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Hi T, glad to assist you! For best results Liquid Copper should not be installed in a regular overflow reservoir tank unless it has a screw on pressurized cap. If you do not have access to your radiator, remove top hose where it connects to the top of the radiator and install product in hose. Reattach hose and tighten clamp.Q:
