Use on hard to stop leaks, even on Northstar engines. Bar's Leaks Carbon Fiber Block Seal Head Gasket & Cooling Sealant is a special formulation that contains a combination of antifreeze compatible sodium silicate sealing liquid and various size gasket sealing particles reinforced with carbon fiber which penetrate gaps & cracks and harden to permanently stop leaks. Product Features: Use with ALL types of antifreeze including conventional green or blue (Silicate-Based) and extended life red/orange or yellow (OAT/HOAT) coolant., It also contains Xtreme Cool which stops overheating and reduces water temperature., No draining of the cooling system is required. followed the directions to see if i should use and determined I fit the profile. Product did just as it claimed it would... i was very surpirsed. Especially after reading a review someone wrote and really knocked this product. Mentioned Blue Devil. Well if that Blue Devil was so good... why did they not keep using it.
I understand for other on line research that Blue Devil has a bad warranty rate. That is also one of the reasons i went with the hg-1. Very happy i did.

I was skeptical to use anything that might plug up a cooling system that might be restricted in any way. I reluctantly tried it. I was only able to get in half the bottle on the first step. The second step I got in maybe a quarter more. After that it didn't lose anymore! I went through the 2 step process once more and squeezed in a little more and I have driven at least a thousand miles since without adding anymore coolant. Oil cap has no slightly milky residue either. It has been sealed and I will update in the future on my vehicle with 233,000 miles!

I had used the Bars block sealer product that is not compatible with anti freeze in the past and it worked well. One vehicle lasted another 6 years and was replaced for another issue, the other died due to a bad transmission. That product worked well but the process was time consuming. This was quicker and I was able to do it after work one evening. Water pump had gone but car did not officially over heat so I thought I was good. Changed pump and found out I was not. Car was eating anti freeze very quick and pushing it out the radiator fill.Put this in and no issues. I drive round trip 100 + miles per day and car has over 230,000 miles on it. Use this, it works.

I am a Ase certified tech.Normally I would be dead set against using something like this.Just fix it right is my first thought.97 Buick Century 3.1 started missing cylinder 2 misfire ,pulled plugs and they were in good shape ,wires were in good shape too.Miss kept comimg back and I thought the worst head gasket leak,I grabbed a radiator pressure tester hooked it to cold engine and let car warm up started building pressure on gauge steadily higher. This is a sign of a head gasket leak.Looked for bubbles in the radiator while running yes I had them this means cylinder pressure is getting into coolant side. Also had some big puffs of white smoke out the exhaust occasionally.I was just sick I did not want to pull the heads off this car its 19 years old and all I could think about was broken exhaust bolts and doing this job laying on my back.I tried this followed directions to a tee and WOW ! what can I say miss is gone car does not overheat and I have been driving it some very hot weather.Hey if got a old beater like this you have nothing to lose.IT WORKS!Saftey precaution do not take a radiator cap off a car while its hot it is under pressure and will flash boil .

Used this on the wife's Bug about 2 months ago and so far it worked great. Coolant was getting into combustion chamber every now and then. Could drive car without issue for 5-10 miles but over that it would intermittently blow HUGE clouds of white smoke out the tail pipe. Followed directions as written on label. Save me from doing a Head Gasket job on it so far.

Car would loose 1 gallon per day from the water jacket into 1 of the cylinders. Car overheated about an hour before a scheduled trip from Connecticut to Atlantic City. I put this product into the engine, per instuctions, and made the 500 round trip problem free. I don't know if will continue to keep the leak at bay, but it sure worked extremely well on a major head gasket leak.

I have a 1994 toyota 4x4 with a 3.0 v6. these are famous for blown head gaskets, and cracked heads. Mine has one of these but i need it to blast around the hills. My question; There appears to be some oil in the water jacket, but no water in the oil. Will this product adhere in spite of the oil? Or should I flush the cooling system? What should I flush it with? I was thinking muratic acid (1/4 cup)? or superclean in a very low product/water ratio?
                              Any suggestions??

Hi Sean! Sorry to say, but if oil in the coolant we can't help with that one. It can't adhere and that is why we can't help. As for flushing, because of the softer metals used in cooling system these days we steer away from anything acidic. The old skull and crossbones products would do more harm than good.

My mechanic just informed me that my 1996 BMW 328i Convertible has a blown/bad head gasket, after I just replaced all new coolant system parts.ie the radiator, water pump, and thermostat, fan clutch and sensor. Now blows white smoke out tailpipe and overheating is still happening. The Temperature gauge goes right hot and lights up after 7-10 minutes of driving. Is this car a candidate for this product? If so, how is it recommended to use?

HI ScottyH! The 1996 BMW 328i is overheating to quickly to be chemically sealed. This leak is too severe to help chemically.

I have a 2004 Dodge Durango in which I had the water pump replaced, and 4 days later there was white smoke coming from the exhaust when I started up that morning. Would this product still be effective, and would I be able to safely get an oil change? Thank you.

Hi Chris, One (1 liter) bottle treats cooling systems from 10 quarts (2.5 gallons) to 20 quarts (5.0 gallons). Use 1⁄2 bottle for smaller cooling systems from 6 quarts (1.5 gallons) to 9.9 quarts (2.49 gallons). For larger systems use 1 bottle for every 5 gallons of cooling capacity.
